Jukoshin Ryu Title - Kyoshi

Kyoshi Anthony Robson has been involved with martial arts for over 40 years.

He began his martial arts training in 1971 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England studying Kodokan Judo under Sensei's John Gallon and John Hudd gaining his Shodan (Black Belt) in 1981.

During 1983-1988 while travelling around the UK he studied various martial arts such as Shotokan Karate, Wing Chung, Kick Boxing, Boxing and Judo.

But it was In 1988 he was lucky enough to meet an instructor by the name of Brian Cheek at one of his London based Dojo's. He has now been training under the direction of Soke Bryan Cheek for the past 25 years and holds a 6th degree black belt in the martial art of Jukoshin Ryu Jiu-jitsu, he has recently been honoured by the technical board of Jukoshin Ryu International and Soke Brian Cheek with the title of Kyoshi, the first Kyoshi in the Jukoshin Ryu system. Through out his Martial Arts career he has been attending seminars across the UK and around the world as both Student and Instructor, and at the 2003 World Elite Black Belt Society World congress held in Ottawa Canada was offered and accepted the role of Technical Director for Jukoshin Ryu England.

In 2005 Kyoshi Robson was the first person to be promoted to 5th Dan Black Belt by the newly formed Jukoshin Ryu World Grading Panel, Kyoshi Robson is also a member of the Jukoshin Ryu International Grading Panel.

In 2008 Kyoshi Robson was promoted to the rank of 6th Dan and also formed his own clubs called Sākuru Jiu-Jitsu teaching Jukoshin Ryu Jiu Jitsu in Bexleyheath and Dartford, Southern England as well as teaching in several dojo's around London 

In 2010 at the WEBBS International Congress in Cyprus, Kyoshi was honoured by being awarded and certified as a 'World Class' instructor by Soke Bryan Cheek.

  • 1973                Started Judo with Sensei John Gallon, Kodokan Judo.

  • 1981                Graded to Blackbelt  by Sensei John Hudd, BJA

  • 1988                Joined the M&S Jiu-Jitsu club under the tutition of Shihan B Cheek, Jiu-Jitsu International.

  • 1991                Took on the responsibility for running the M&S Jiu-Jitsu on behalf of Marks & Spencer plc.

  • 1995                Awarded the grade of Shodan by Shihan B Cheek, WKF

  • 1996                Awarded Instructor certification through WKF

  • 1997                Awarded Student of the Year by WKF

  • 1998                Awarded the grade of Nidan by Shihan B Cheek, WKF

  • 2000                Awarded the grade of Sandan by Shihan B Cheek, WEBBS

  • 2000                Took over as Chief Instructor for the M&S Jiu-Jitsu club

  • 2002                Awarded the grade of Yondan by Shihan B Cheek, WEBBS

  • 2003                Awarded the title of Renshi by Soke B Cheek, WEBBS/Jukoshin Ryu

  • 2003                Accepted role of National Director for WEBBS England

  • 2003                Accepted role of National Director for Jukoshin Ryu England

  • 2003                Accepted position on the World Council for Jukoshin Ryu International

  • 2005                Awarded the grade of Godan by the Jukoshin Ryu World Grading Panel

  • 2005                Nominated to the Jukoshin Ryu World Grading Panel

  • 2006                Honoured by Soke Yasumoto Akyoshi with the role of Technical Director    for Moto-ha Yoshin Ryu UK

  • 2008                Promoted to the Rank of 6th Dan in Jukoshin Ryu

  • 2010                Awarded the title of Kyoshi by Soke Bryan Cheek and the JSRI GP

  • 2010                Awarded the classification of 'World Class' Instructor by Soke Bryan Cheek
